Fire & Smoke Dampers come in a number of forms and, depending on their type, are not always visible or readily found.

There are duct work dampers that can are fitted inside the installed ductwork, dampers to breaks in fire walls and large door size dampers in walls that are part of smoke extract systems.

Duct work damper maintenance requires adherence to several national standards from the ubiquitous BS9999: 2017 to DW145 and guidance from BESA TB001.

F&S Maintenance are fully qualified to undertake this service and maintenance and, as always, provide a full photographic report of each and every accessible asset with any advisories or remedial works noted.

A significant proportion of the time taken to service duct work dampers is in the location of them and, whilst we anticipate that most buildings would have O&M drawings relating to their location we will endeavour to find them and provide a detailed description of their location to facilitate future service and maintenance.

Under the current guidance duct work dampers are required to be serviced and maintained annually.
